LR launches the industry’s first artificial intelligence registry.

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Registry, a standardized digital registry of LR certified AI providers and solutions, a first of its kind for the marine industry.

AI technology, engineering systems that have hardware and software elements that mimic the human ability to observe, understand and make decisions, continues to develop in the maritime realm with applications ranging from twins digital, virtual commissioning and autonomous navigation systems. To support this technology adoption, LR’s AI Registry has been developed to report proven and trusted AI technology to help maritime stakeholders benefit from the latest applications.

The AI ​​Registry will help maritime stakeholders find appropriate vendors and solutions to business challenges, minimizing the risks and costs of investing in AI technology. AI vendors can also use the registry to assess existing technology and solutions in the market.

Each AI solution listed in the LR AI registry will be classified according to its LR certification status, such as Digital Twin Ready, Digital Twin Approved, Digital Twin Commissioned, and Digital Twin Live from LR’s ShipRight digital compliance framework. The AI ​​ledger will also provide details on what the specific solution offers, such as key business benefits, target applications, functions and performance.

AI providers currently listed in LR’s AI registry include Furuno, HAT Analytics, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), and ZhenDui Industrial Artificial Intelligence (ZDIAI ).

LR provides assurance of the safety and performance of deployed technologies based on digital and artificial intelligence for maritime, such as digital twin technology, and applies its LR ShipRight digital compliance framework to qualify the technology and its results .

LR’s digital compliance framework has four distinct stages, with each stage providing a unique benefit to both the digital twin developer and the end user of a digital twin.

  4. “Digital Twin Live” Validation of specific digital twin (s). The validation confirms the reproducibility of correct and precise information about the digital twins, including their statistical relevance, as the digital twin is scaled through installation on hundreds / thousands of physical assets.
